Dr. Mark Whalon

Department of Entomology, Michigan State University, Mark Whalon directs the Pesticide Alternatives lab which is committed to pesticide reduction, agriculture, and natural resources. In order to accomplish this, the Whalon lab helps to develop reduced-risk, sustainable and organic insect pest management strategies, tactics, and tools within the context of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) systems. The lab also manages The Resistant Arthropods Database and publishes The Resistant Pest Management Newsletter. Through various policy efforts in Michigan, the Upper Midwest, Washington, D.C., and internationally, Dr. Whalon serves a number of advisor roles to United States Environmental Protection Agency, United States Department of Agriculture, Organic Materials Review Institute, as well as various university, grower, and scientific committees.
